Evacuee Support Guide
Emergency Social Services (ESS) is a program for the delivery of short-term support services to meet the immediate basic needs for individuals, households, and communities affected by an incident. These services include:
•
Temporary shelter
•
Food and water
•
Personal items and services (e.g., hygiene items, clothing, emergency first aid and healthcare, disability, ethnocultural, and psychosocial supports)
•
Supports for companion animals (pets) and service dogs
•
Family reunification
•
Registering and tracking evacuees
Please note that some of these services may be provided by organizations other than GPREP.
To access authorized supports and services, evacuees must register at a Reception Centre. A self-registration link will also be made available for individuals who do not require supports or services.
Reception Centre locations are selected during each emergency based on factors such as facility availability, the number of households impacted, required supports, and travel routes or access considerations.
When Evacuating
When evacuating, bring important documents, medications, food, water, and other essential supplies to support being away from your home for at least seven days. Bring your pets, along with pet food and supplies.
