What is GPREP?
The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) is a formal regional partnership between the City of Grande Prairie, the County of Grande Prairie, and the Towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley. GPREP coordinates large-scale emergency management activities across the region, ensuring a unified and organized approach when incidents impact more than one municipality or require shared resources. By working together, our partner communities strengthen regional preparedness, response, and recovery efforts..
What We Do
GPREP leads and supports emergency planning, training, exercises, and real-world emergency activations within the region. We coordinate Incident Command Post (ICP) operations, support Emergency Social Services (ESS) for evacuees, and work closely with municipal, industry, and community partners to build capacity and resilience.
Through collaboration, training, and structured emergency management practices, GPREP helps ensure the region is prepared to respond effectively when it matters most.
GPREP Enrolled Members
Our Enrolled Members receive standardized training in the Incident Command System (ICS), enabling them to perform emergency management functions in their own or other communities. ICS is widely used by emergency response organizations across North America, supporting consistent coordination and interoperability during incidents.
Many of our Enrolled Members also receive Emergency Social Services (ESS) training which is delivered through the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA). It consists of a series of progressive modules designed to build knowledge and develop practical skills over time. This training prepares ESS team members to support emergency social services operations not only within their own communities, but anywhere in Alberta when needed.
